Summer in Blue

A collection of miniature seascapes inspired by the Cornish coast,

created using three acrylic colour pigments and Cornish sea water.

β€œThe idea for this collection came to me during the Covid 19 lockdown; craving to be by the sea and to travel, I started to think about creating smaller, portable pieces that capture the coast in a simple and distilled way. The urge to create something rooted in simplicity - perhaps to reflect the simpler life I was living during lockdown - encouraged me to look again at how I create seascapes, and to get back to basics. When I finally made it to the coast, I restricted myself to using only three acrylic colour pigments in the works (one each representing earth, sea and air). And with a desire to work with the sea, rather than just using it as inspiration, I mixed the three acrylic pigments with Cornish sea water to capture - quite literally - elements of the coast in my work.”

All works in the exhibition have now sold.
